From pre-history to the present day, the Var countryside is dotted with many remarkable buildings that are testament to a rich and tumultuous past. Megaliths, cave dwellings, Gothic churches and Romanesque Abbeys, Medieval Castles and fortified villages, Roman remains, Moorish villas and military forts

Art of living
Pastis and olive oil, the perpetual ritual of the sieste and games of pétanques on summer evenings. It is the sound of galoubets and tambourines, men and women in traditional dress who dance in town squares during Saint Days. It is the carts covered in flowers that welcome the arrival of spring, fragrant markets, Christmas calends and the santons nativities. It is also its light and fruity wine that make the Provençale language sing and that we invite you to taste on our winemaking estates and at our tables.

Sports and leisure
With it's1600 km of signposted footpaths, its coast, lakes, hills and forest, the Var is a sporting paradise. Walking, diving, sailling, windsurfing, cycling, climbing, golfit offers calm or extreme sports that can be practiced throughout the year ! And, just for a change, you will always find even in the smallest of villages, a traditional festival, a concert, an exhibition or a show for your entertainment.
