The old port and the fish market

Early in the morning at the old harbour, situated in the heart of town, professional fishermen empty their boats (called pointus') full of scorpion fish, sea bass and mullet. Restaurant owners and customers then go to the fish market in Cours Jean Bart, taking as much pleasure in buying their fish as in the hustle-and-bustle atmosphere.

La promenade du Commandant Guilbaud
ou Cours Jean Bart

You will enjoy wandering along the quays in the shade of the plane trees and admiring the splendid view over the harbour. This area called by the Commune "Marine area" welcomed General Bonaparte on his return from Egypt in 1799.
