L’Ile d’Or is one of the 60 most beautiful sites in France. Inaccessible since it was privatised in 1897, it used to be the arena for sumptuous receptions when the owner at the time declared he was king of the island. Its square, crenellated watchtower was built with red rock from the Esterel. The island was immortalised by Herg, the creator of Tintin in Lile Noire.

The main Dramont beach was one of the principal points for the Allied landings in Provence. On 15 August 1944, 20,000 GIs from the 36th Texas regiment landed on the pebbled beach in less than 10 hours with tanks and heavy artillery. At the foot of the Cap is the very picturesque fishing harbour of Poussai.

Cap Dramont is part of the state-owned Esterel forest. This is home to one of the most beautiful and the most accessible parts of the Coastal Path.

At its summit, the semaphore (signal station) was built in 1860 on the ruins of a watchtower dating back to 1562. It is still used for observation: lookouts watch over the safety of sailors and have an active role in the battle against pollution.

Dramont lakes
Ancient mines at origin of the blue porphyry which now forms the dramont's pretty shingle beach. Today these lakes have become a water sports playground.

Camp Long
Beyond Cap Dramont a very attractive little beach with its tawny-coloured rocks and luxuriant foliage, is a special place to visit in the bay of Agay. Around this beach, the many villas which at the time of the Belle Epoque were homes to artists and writers make up the spot Camp Long.

Autour de cette plage de nombreuses villas qui furent à la « Belle Epoque » les résidences d’artistes et ’écrivains forment le site de Camp Long.
